Just resurfacing after a long bout of cold and flu. I've missed you. How are you, Friends?! There's a few things I've been wanting to share with you, but haven't been able to muster up the energy to do so. Now that I'm on the mend, I thought I would wrap them all into one post for you.
Up first, I've got some BAD/GOOD news for you. The bad...I can no longer make it the Blog Podium Conference. I was so looking forward to meeting up with you all in Toronto this month, and listening to my good blog friend Brittany Douglas speak. Unfortunately, the Winnipeg Design Festival is scheduled the same weekend, I just felt like I needed to be there for these awesome local events. The good news...I've got ONE TICKET up for grabs! I am not holding a blog giveaway, I'm just giving the ticket away personally. So if you've been itching to go, but haven't yet committed to buying a ticket, email me by Friday at 11:59pm CST at firstname.lastname@example.org telling me why you'd like to go. I'll pick my favourite response and they'll win the ticket.
Note: I want this ticket to go to good use, so please, only participate if you can actually attend the event.
Next up, let's talk about #NormalFilterFriday. The Instagram project wrapped up a couple of weekends ago, and I have to say it was a good learning experience. In true #NormalFilterFriday fashion, my approach was perfectly imperfect...posting many of the shots several days after the Friday was technically due, missing one Friday completely, and sometimes actually deleting Instagrams that just weren't nice enough to pass inspection. Gasp! I know...so bad. Turns out, I'm even more perfectionistic than I thought, so if I'm going to be completely honest, I was a little relieved when the summer project was over and I could get back to using nothing but pretty filters.
I may slip the odd #NormalFilterFriday Instagram in every now and then, just to keep things real, but I'm not making any promises. ;)
Finally, speaking of keeping things real, have you seen the new online site Clementine Daily? Erin Loechner (author of the Design For Mankind blog), recently launched this new venture along with a group of talented ladies and I just love their mission:
"...to create a space for real women living authentic-sometimes-frenzied-often-hurried-but-always-inspired lives." - Clementine Daily
I don't know about you, but that feels so familiar...it's kind of how I live my own life! It's usually busier than I would like it to be, but at the core of it, I am just looking to live a life that inspires me and those around me. It's also one of the messages I hope comes across here on A DESIGN DOCK.
Clementine Daily's manifesto is also pretty sweet. You can read their manifesto here or watch it on video here.
Well, I think that's all for now! Goodnight. xo, A.
